bad week for a vegetarian
so i’m packing my lunch this morning (after my routine run). sweat is dripping everywhere, which is pretty disgusting to begin with. being vegetarian (which i cannot stress enough) i normally have tofu, seitan, a soy burger or a salad for lunch. that’s pretty routine as well. so i put 2 pieces of tofu in one piece of tupperware and open up a brand new can of ‘organic’ green beans i got at the market last week. only this time, it seems like i got more than i bargained for. as i’m putting some of my yummy green beans in another piece of tupperware, i notice something… different, red… yes, a cricket. A CRICKET in my green beans !!
is the universe trying to tell me something ? have i been vegetarian long enough ? is it time to start eating meat and non-organic produce ? i don’t know, but it sure is a bad week for a vegetarian…
Ah, there’s nothing wrong with that
It’s a good sign that they aren’t putting any nasty pesticides on your beans. It’s a shame for the poor cricket, I admit. But you’re not the only person to have ever found some stowaways in your canned vegetables
As a child, I vividly recall my mom putting a nice big scoop of lima beans on my plate and seeing a big fat juicy worm dangling out of the larger legumes. Remarkably, it didn’t scar me. I still love lima beans to this day.
