well, i tried to follow my therapist’s advice and took everything down a notch or two… or three. it was my friend’s bachelorette party and wedding this weekend so that helped keep me from going insane. still, i feel like i barely did anything. i can see how it’s helped speed up the recovery though. my knee hurts less and it hasn’t been swelling up as much.

The Last Ride

One of my best friends got married over the weekend. As I was downloading the gazillion photos I took, I came across this fabulous picture. It was taken on July 1, the day before the bike crash. I ran a 5k that morning and then rode about 30 miles. Little did I know it would be my last ride on The Tequilo. :-(

i started physical therapy yesterday. the therapist said i was over working my knee. she wants me to cut back on the cycling/spinning at least. major bummer. i know they’re just trying to keep the woman down ! ;-) but seriously, i guess she knows best so i’ll try to slow down a bit over the next few weeks.

it took me about two weeks to get back into my groove after the accident. when i first saw my sports medicine doctor he said i could start swimming and doing upper body weight training again. that’s what i did during my first week back.

friday 07.14:

after reviewing my MRI results, the doctor said i could start biking again as long as i kept it under 50 miles per week. i thought this was crazy, but after realizing how very painful it was to pedal, i understood the limitation. the first day back was torturous and cost me three days of rest. ouch !

well, the first week back on the bike was hard. i realized spinning might be too agressive this early in my recovery, so i decided to ride my bike instead.

originally, i wasn’t going to post these logs, but after seeing it all in black and white i couldn’t help but feel proud of myself for everything i’ve managed to do despite how painful it has been.
