09.08.06-09.14.06
i tried to bump up my training a bit this week, but my knee did not cooperate. i think i took one step forward and about 100 back as far as my recovery goes. i will have to go back to the doctor sometime next week. hopefully he will suggest more physical therapy. i think this time it was the “let’s try a different spin class” experiment that did it. although the class wasn’t difficult by any means, the instructor seemed to be possessed by evil spirits. her class lacked structure and organization. she focused on speed rather than form which is not good when you’re trying to recover from an injury. mea culpa. lesson learned.

I’m sorry your knee isn’t getting better. That must really suck. Take it a little bit at a time! I’d be interested in taking a spin class but I think I would get bored.
hey Mary, thanks for your kind words. i know eventually i will be ok. it’s just been a rough few years with all the injuries. regarding spinning, it is a great way to improve your cycling. if the class is taught right, you won’t be bored, trust me ! spinning classes are usually very intense. i am considering getting my certification to teach later this year. hopefully that will come through.
Life’s full of lessons… isn’t that the truth? Some are hard. I’m sorry you had a little bit of a setback and that the class wasn’t what you expected – or needed.
HANG IN THERE, LIZ!
*hugs*
Patience and time… will heal all!
did you go to an orthopedist for your knee? if so, what was wrong with it? i went to the doctor this week and he told me that he couldn’t make any diagnosis on my knee (but it is for sure the kneecap) and referred me to an orthopedist. i have images of surgery and metal knee braces floating through my brain.
i know that you will recover fully, even if it takes awhile longer. as you can see, i’m looking to you for insight and support on kneecap problems!
just keep your head up.
hi Jessica ! i go to a sports medicine doctor for my knee because i’ve been seeing him for many years and through all of my sports injuries. normally, you would go to an orthopedist which is what i may actually end up doing if i don’t notice any progress soon. it’s always good to get a second opinion. for months, i kept having stress fractures while training for a marathon 2 years ago. after going to my sports medicine doctor a few times and getting the same answer, i decided to try an orthopedist. he suggested a bone density exam which showed i had osteopenia. so don’t stop until you get to the bottom of what is truly wrong with your knee. it’s your body !! i hope this helps a bit. thanks for your words of encouragement.
liz – thanks for the info! the appointment is today; i will let you know what the doctor (whose name is michael jordan ha ha!) says.
hope you’re having a good day!
thanks, Jessica. good luck !
