seriously. this needs to stop. i normally use exercise as a crutch when i’m down, but this time i don’t seem to have the energy to do that. i need a new goal. there’s a century ride in December, but 100 miles ?? i can’t even go 30 without my knee screaming at me. i wanted to do another self-supported triathlon, rollerblading the run portion, but my rollerblades were inside the Jetta and i can’t afford new ones right now. any suggestions ?

Hi there- I stumbled across your blog through links to others, etc.- you know how it goes! Anyway, I thought I would comment because I too have a tendency to steer toward hard physical challengens when I’m down. But what about nurturing your tired self instead- what about Pilates or yoga? I know that they sound like relaxation and not working out but they really do greatly enhance core strength and that makes you more balanced and better at all activities. There are many other benefits as well.

Take care of you,

Allison: thanks ! i do like yoga. i was really into it about 2 years ago, but then i gave it up. i’ve been meaning to get back into it. i still need to have a goal because that’s just the way my mind operates, but yoga will definitely help me. thanks again !
Are you a member of a Masters Swimming Club?
Ian: no, i am not. i was going to join one a while back, remember ? they actually meet at the swimming hall of fame which is literally 2 miles from my apt. i will email the coach again. thanks for the comment !
When you are ready I will be your moving transition area or SAG vechicle. Should be even nicer now that you have the Rabbit.
You still have a friend.
What about some aquathlons/duathlons? Aren’t those usually the swim and run portion. Do some easy ones though. I’m kinda in the same boat as you, I need something to train for!!!
Mary: unfortunately, i can’t run yet.
swimming is fine as long as i have a bike ride and run to look forward to afterwards. otherwise, it doesn’t really appeal to me. i think i’ll have to create my own duathlon (swim/bike), like my friend Laura suggested. i should be able to manage that. stay tunned…
thanks for the comment !!
