Hey, Great week, Liz! I was wondering — when you go out these long rides, do you go by yourself or with a group? Do you bring any kind of fuel do with you?
Jen: i sometimes ride with a friend, but most of the time, i ride alone. fuel depends on how long the ride is. i normally eat every 45-60 minutes. for rides 40 miles or less, i only take gels, plus one bottle of water and one bottle of gatorade. for anything over 40, i include fruit bars and stop to refill water and gatorade somewhere on my route. i don’t like to stop much, but this weekend was nice because Geoff met me 45 miles into my ride and had a snack with me. that was nice and kept me motivated cos 62 miles can seem like an eternity when you’re riding alone.
What a good boyfriend–hiding muffin tins under your pillow, meeting for a bike ride snack… lucky girl! Thanks for the info. I’ve been starting to think about doing some longer rides (most likely by myself) and I was just wondering how other folks do things. Have another great week!
if you did 1000 meters, does that mean i did 250 meters
