basic intervals (or my first Spinning class)

i’ll start on a positive note. the class went well. i didn’t have any minor (or major) panic attacks. i did, however, only have ONE student. but i had been warned. the previous instructor quit months ago. the coordinator tried out several other instructors but they turned out to be too unreliable so she canceled the class altogether. she is now trying to build the class back up so it will be a while until there are enough regulars to actually call it a class. in the meantime, it will be a good way for me to get more comfortable with teaching.

the woman in my class seemed pleased with the routine. she said she’d definitely be back and would put in a good word with the coordinator. at this point it looks like i’ll be back next weekend.

i didn’t want to post my routine before the actual class because i didn’t have a chance to rehearse it so i wasn’t sure if i’d have to modify something. as it turned out, i did have to modify it because we got started a bit late and it was kinda long. here’s how it really went down…

Arghhhh! I wish I lived in Florida! That routine looks awesome — really varied, but with some steady climbing built in. Perfect. And the music is way cooler than anything they play here — there’s definitely no Bjork :-(

I sometimes do my own spin routines at the little gym where I work out. I’m going to print this off & use it! You’ll be my virtual instructor.

Congratulations – I’m sure you’ll have packed classes in no time, and a great group of regulars to boot!

Is that the Bjork video with the lesbian robots doing the nasty?

Also, am I nuts or do you keep redesigning this page? :-)

Jen: thanks ! i’m so glad you like the profile. i kept thinking it would be too easy, but i guess everything looks easy on paper ! variety is very important to me as well. i feel flattered that you’re going to do this routine. let me know how it turns out or if i should modify anything. i will try to post new routines in the future and i hope you’re right about having a full class. i am nervous now, but i think i’ll be ready by the time it happens.

Ted: why don’t you come to class and find out ? ;-) yes, it is and i don’t mean to destroy your fantasy but i recently read in an article that they are not, in fact, lesbian robots doing the nasty. i redesigned my blog ages ago. where have you been ? try to keep up. :-P
