As promised, here’s a new profile. Most of my recent classes have focused on higher resistance since it is the only “hill training” we get in South Florida. This is one tough workout (if done right), but pays off in the end. The 4th climb is where the magic happens. It’ll separate the boys from the men.
Enjoy !

Today’s adjustment wasn’t too bad. I told the orthodontist about 3 concerns I had. He dismissed 2 of them saying he’d fix those "minor" issues towards the end of my long journey. It’s still too soon, he says. Ha ! Torture is never fast-paced.
He did actually do something about my third concern. I am missing one tooth on the bottom and the tooth next to it was moving inward. He put a powerchain from tooth 2 to tooth 7 and a spring from tooth 5 to tooth 7 over the gap. This is somehow supposed to put tooth 7 back into alignment. Orthodontia is amazing voodoo.
I also got a new wire on the bottom and he "tightened" the manly man wire on top (ouch !). The gaps are closing slowly but surely. My next adjustment is in 6 weeks and he thinks they may be totally closed by them. Woohoo !
On my list of “wants” for birthday presents this year was a new pair of sport sunglasses. My current ones weren’t that great to start with and the Florida sun can be pretty cruel.
My birthday is not for another 11 days, BUT the birthday fairy was forced to produce a present a bit earlier this year because my current sunglasses met their untimely demise this morning while I was prepping for a ride. I’ve been leaving the house well before sunrise which makes it hard to see anything through dark lenses. Since I was going for only a short ride this morning, I decided to switch the lenses to yellow (for low light conditions). If you’ve used sport sunglasses before, you know that, with time, the sun can make them inflexible and even a bit brittle. Sure enough, the glasses snapped.
It’s impossible to ride in South Florida (or anywhere else for that matter) without a good pair of glasses, not only because of the sun, but the debris, sand, bugs, etc on the road. So after my ride and a short nap, Geoffrey and I went over to the mall where I picked out a new pair of Oakley Enduring Pace sunglasses. Happy birthday to me ! Can’t wait to try them ! Thank you, Geoffrey !
I thought about twittering this, but could never squeeze it into 140 characters. For starters, let me say I am one of the luckiest women alive because my partner, Geoffrey, happens to be one of the happiest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. He’s optimistic to the point where I sometimes wonder if he’s some kind of alien visiting our planet.
He always manages to flip my difficult days around. Actually, I was telling one of my coworkers about that yesterday. Then today, my computer crashed and I got one of those nasty Blue Screens of Death. When I told Geoffrey about it, he replied: “you should change it to orange! that way at least it would look happier.” He even sent me details on how to do it.
When I told my coworker about this, he said that Geoffrey should share his happiness formula with everyone. I couldn’t agree more. The world would be a better place if everyone was as happy and optimistic as Geoffrey.
