8.27 – 9.2

September 3, 2010 Leave a comment Go to comments

I feel compelled to explain this week because I don’t want anyone to think I was sipping margaritas on the beach somewhere, taking a break from my somewhat organized training schedule and ignoring the imminent Half Ironman in my future.

On August 30, my Geoffrey turned 40 years old. We decided to take a trip to New Zealand to celebrate it with his family and closest friends. We left on Wednesday, August 25th. The plan was to not run since I’ve been battling a minor IT issue for a few months now and the trip seemed like a good time to give my legs a rest and chance to heal. I managed to get in one swim while there although I started to feel the onset of a cold. I was back home by September 1st and had planned on jumping back into my training by hitting my friend’s awesome Spinning class on Wednesday. Unfortunately, by then my “cold” had become “the flu” and I was in no shape to do anything.
