I have finally decided to start updating this blog again with more than just a weekly training log. There’s always something happening, but, of course, no time to actually write about it. So, I’m going to list a few things that are currently on my mind every Wednesday. I figure a short update is better than no update at all. Right ? So, let’s get this party started.
1. I finally got my car back today ! I was rear-ended last month. The collision place didn’t just do an awesome job repairing the damage, they created a bit of damage themselves ! Upon picking up the car, I realized that nothing electrical was working on the right side. The worst part was not being able to lock the car. Anyway, I have the car. It works. I’m happy.
2. After teaching Spinning regularly for about 4 years, I’ve decided to stop. There are some reasons for this. More on that later. Maybe.
3. We went camping with Luka this part weekend. She was SO amazing. Holy crap. I don’t know how we got so lucky with such an incredibly good dog. It almost makes me feel spoiled to have her all to ourselves. Mwahahahaha.
4. This is a stress-packed week at work. Not the usual “OMG I’m so stressed ! I need wine !” sort of week. It’s the kind of of week that makes you wish you stamped envelopes for a living.
5. It took me longer than usual to recover from this year’s HIM. It was starting to freak me out. My legs would run out of juice 40 minutes into any workout. Crazy ! I’m happy to report that I’m back to normal and marathon training is well underway.
6. Geoffrey and I have started discussing plans for next year’s vacation hot spot. There’s been talk of the Prague Marathon. Or the Rome Marathon, cycling through Tuscany. Wait. Are we still talking about vacation ?

I was tagged by Teresa over at Tri-A-Licious to post 10 random things about myself. Her list was very impressive ! I’d never been tagged before and it was quite challenging to come up with anything interesting though I must admit, it was a lot of fun.

- My first job was as a sales clerk in the lingerie section of a department store. I was 17.
- I drive a manual car and probably always will.
- I suffer from bathmophobia. I guess it is a good thing that I live in Florida.
- After having short hair for over 12 years, I am currently growing it out for Locks of Love.
- I have never seen any of the original Star Wars movies. GASP !

Somehow, I ended up with the only watch my mom owned until a decade ago when it stopped working and she couldn’t be bothered to fix it. It had originally belonged to one of my great aunts who passed away when my mom was a teenager. The watch must be at least 60 years old at this point. I had thought about giving it back to my mom with a new band, at least, but immediately changed my mind when Geoffrey suggested I get it restored. I took it to a local watch shop expecting to be turned away, but was happily surprised at how helpful they were. In a couple of weeks time, they fixed my mom’s watch, cleaned it, swapped the crystal face for an identical replica of the original and put a beautiful brand new band on it. I asked them not to change the original dial since I do want my mom to recognize it. Here it is wrapped in a hand crafted rosewood box I got for her today. I cannot wait to see the look on her face when she opens it. I don’t even think she knows that it still exists !
She was on the streets for who knows how long, then a prisoner for days, just had surgery and here she is in a strange car in the middle of a thunderstorm with her legs shaking and still looking out the window and wagging her tail at the passing cars.
I’m going to a good home !!
1. Yesterday marked one year of orthodontic torture. One year down and one to go. It’s all downhill from here. 
2. Remember this little fiasco ? Yesterday, a check from the insurance company finally arrived. Can I get a “Hallelujah ?” I drove my happy self to the bank this morning. Done and done. Onward.
3. A new copy of Runner’s World arrived last night. There’s nothing like having a hot cup of tea and falling asleep reading one of my favorite magazines.
I thought about twittering this, but could never squeeze it into 140 characters. For starters, let me say I am one of the luckiest women alive because my partner, Geoffrey, happens to be one of the happiest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. He’s optimistic to the point where I sometimes wonder if he’s some kind of alien visiting our planet.
He always manages to flip my difficult days around. Actually, I was telling one of my coworkers about that yesterday. Then today, my computer crashed and I got one of those nasty Blue Screens of Death. When I told Geoffrey about it, he replied: “you should change it to orange! that way at least it would look happier.” He even sent me details on how to do it.
When I told my coworker about this, he said that Geoffrey should share his happiness formula with everyone. I couldn’t agree more. The world would be a better place if everyone was as happy and optimistic as Geoffrey.
That funny guy I live with put speech bubbles on my registration renewal sticker because I always forget to stick them on my plate (even though I renew months before my birthday).
Spending a beautiful South Florida day with some cool vegan peeps and whole lotta food.
Our relationship is so 3rd grade…
